Summary/Abstract: Saint Gregory Palamas is one of the leading representatives of Eastern spirituality and a true "benchmark" of Orthodoxy in general. The aim of Palamas in his theology, is to harmonize two things that seem contradictory, but which, together form an integral part of the Eastern patristic tradition: on the one hand, the revelation of God in Jesus Christ is a total revelation establishing the intimacy between Man and God and a unit which gives him the possibility of knowing God, namely the vision God’s "face to face"; and on the other hand, God is unknowable and incomprehensible by nature. It is clear that these two truths can not get along in the system of a purely existentialist philosophy. But Saint Gregory manages to present them admirably taking as a starting point the divine existence, made available in Christian experience through the discovery of Jesus Christ. The pervasive nature of this theological synthesis is obvious in the teaching of Saint Gregory which emphasizes the concept "divine image" in a man which shall be detailed within the hereby study.
