Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the principles of presenting phraseology in the dictionary of folk narratives recorded by Matas Slančiauskas and his assistants (further – SŽ). Analysis of the views of various Lithuanian, Latvian, Russian, English and German linguists allows suggesting that not only traditional phraseologisms, but also stable word combinations ought to be distinguished in historical dictionaries as well as dictionaries of dialects, subdialects and even modern language.
