Summary/Abstract: Networking sessions are a fixed part of business conferences all over the world, and are becoming equally popular in Poland. The phenomenon of building networks may benefit individuals, however relying solely on the recommendation system may lead to pathology of the labor market in long term, such as unequal access to job vacancies, nepotism or cronyism. In this article I concentrate on the characteristics of social networks, in which networking is rooted, that is conscious network building. I will try to discuss both opportunities and risks associated with the implementation of recommendations in the job search process. The article contains literature on network society, the labor market and publications that address the issue of networking.
