Summary/Abstract: Recently the community of philosophers lost its dear member Leonarda Jekentaitë-Kuzmickiené, associate professor of Vilnius University Philosophy Department. She died on October 12, 2008. Leonarda was born on May 3, 1946 in Vilnius. In 1969, she graduated from Vilnius University Biophysics Department. In 1977, she defended a thesis for a doctoral degree The Concept of Man in American Neo-Freudizm. The Critical Analysis of the Theories of K.Horney, H.Sullivan, and E.Fromm”. At Vilnius University, she lectured on Introduction to Philosophy; Psychoanalysis, Philosophy, and Culture; Philosophy at School; The Dialog of Goodness and Beauty in the Frameworks of Ethics and Aesthetics; The Phenomenology of Feminine Existence. In 1992, Leonarda published a monograph Freudizm and Humanist Psychoanalysis. The same year she translated into the Lithuanian language The Art of Loving by Erich Fromm. From 1991 till 1993, she lectured on ethics in Vilnius secondary schools and published a textbook Ethics for the Tenth and Eleventh Classes. The textbook was translated into the Polish language and published in Braille. In 1999 Leonarda translated Lisa. The Basis of Civil Society by American educator M. Lipman; in 2002 - his Teacher’s Book. The same year, in collaboration with Regina Sabaliauskaite she published the book Man among Men. Ethics for the Tenth and Eleventh Classes. Leonarda actively participated in the international project Philosophy for Children working at its congresses in Ireland and Brazil and worked at probation in the USA. From 1997-2001, she was secretary-general of the Lithuanian National Commission of UNESCO.
