Summary/Abstract: The mediation between the suppliers of information services and the consumers of information represents one of the key functions of the information management services. This mediation implies both the appraisal of information service suppliers area and of available alternatives, and also the continual evaluation of the changes related to information demands within the framework of the infodocumentary structures. Being aware of the great interest related to this process, the librarians could become the effective partners of service suppliers as they are able to provide the necessary feedback in order to participate in the process of developing new products, a process still in progress. Therefore, the present study can be considered as an attempt at providing a general overview on the key structure and players involved in the information industry.
