Summary/Abstract: The article concerns the process of raising the social structure in Donbas, creating itsspecificity against the background of the other parts of Ukrainian state. Processes ofindustrialization were especially mentioned, as well as the development of miners’culture and the attitude to Russian language, which were the key factors influencing thedistinctiveness of the region. In the moments of political crises this distinctiveness isexpressed in the form of authentic separatist tendencies and demands of independencefrom the side of Ukrainian Donbas' inhabitants.
