Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study consists in the analysis of the approaches centered on the curriculum innovations in preparing pre-service language teachers. There are explored the contemporary perspectives in language teacher education at a general level. Also, there are identified the curriculum innovations in language teacher education at a specific level, with the accent on the initial training programmes.
