NATIONAL INTEREST AND EURO-ATLANTIC INTEGRATION

Summary/Abstract: The main interest of a state is that of existing. However, its existence is determined by a series of internal or external reasons and history has witnessed the emergence and disappearance of a great number of state entities. Without approaching in this study the aspects related to the reasons underlying the setting up of a state or its power and influence resources, we will only take into account the fact that, more often than not, the elements allowing its existence are historical, namely the relation between a population and a territory or other links connecting the components of a state.
