Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the so-called ethical uprising – one of the fundamental principles of ethics of the ancient Greek cynics. Two manifestations of cynical ethical uprising – internal freedom and so called cynical impudence – are investigated. The author also focuses on the model of the ideal society proposed by above mentioned uprising. The article comes to conclusion that the internal freedom of cynicism involves both negative and positive levels. The author of the article also states that so called cynical impudence – breach of generally accepted norms and prohibitions conflicting with human nature – cannot be identified with an absence of elementary sense of shame. Finally, it is affirmed that cynicism regarded asceticism – the practice of temperance for body and soul – as the only means to actualize the cynical model of ideal society.
