Summary/Abstract: On the basis of the ideas of social tension field expressed by prof. R. Grigas, the current situation of primary education quality and teacher training is analysed in the context of social tension the methodological approach applied in the research is based on the criterion of fullvalue evolution. The expectations of the society towards education, expressed in terms of positive ethnicsocium development, have to conform to the strategic decisions on education. Thus, certain fields of social tension are always observed between the requirements. Set for the quality of education and possibilities for their achievement. Such social fields are sound and useful unless they develop into conflict situations, which obstruct the national dynamic balance the article highlights the fields of social tension between the expectations regarding the quality of realisation, i.e. Reality of teacher training. Moreover, some problematic issues of trends in contemporary Lithuanian education reform are revealed applying the method of historic comparative analysis
