Summary/Abstract: The following article outlines Sigmund Freud's, Melanie Klein's, Erik Erikson's, Erich Fromm's and Carl Gustav Jung's theories regarding identification as an interpersonal interaction, the differences and the mutual influence between them. According to Freud identification is the first manifestation of endearment in a man. Melanie Klein defines projection and introection as forms of uniformization. Erich Fromm and Jung consider the dependacy between identifications and social roles. Erik Erikson presents the development of an identity in relation to the process of accumulation, build-up and interaction of earlier identifications.
