Summary/Abstract: The article recapitulate statements formulated on the base of two research projects concerns motives of activists (Chimiak, Nowak and Nowosielski), and offered pairing standard qualitative investigation of activists with the investigation based on methodological triangulation. The description tends to show consequences of methodological decisions in comparative perspective. The consequence of the point of view of the author is the suggestion of usage of ‘concepts of mix methods’ or triangulation as a tools for improvement of heuristic potential of particular research project. The intention of the author is the rejection of the paradigmatic opposition, for the benefit of pragmatic strategy based on the subject of investigation (in analyzed cases: motives of actions of activists in the area of ‘civil society’). In the way of introduction (to the comparative analysis) a reader finds reflection on the methodological status of qualitative, and quantitative research projects in sociology, and psychology.
