Summary/Abstract: The 1960s saw the revival of genre films in the Polish cinema. These productions were supposed to combine mass entertainment with the legitimization of the communist system. The paper will analyse the use of the Western cultural imports and genre films in the Polish film industry and their application to social norms and national specificities.
