Summary/Abstract: Looking at recent state of investigations in the field of argumentation two points stand out above all: 1. The whole picture is too vague and fragmentary and in particular there is not clarity about the question whether all that, conventionally called „theory of argumentation“, is a separate discipline, or it is identical with logic. 2. Because of this ambiguity there are not yet formed mature scientific standards in this field and instead it is observed working out and using sets of empirical prescriptions how to construct a proper argumentation and studying and systematizing various types of fallacies of arguments and their effects.
