Summary/Abstract: Monism is a fundamental logical and methodological principle of scientific knowledge organizing. It functions through the requirements for scientific theories to be logically consistent and systematically developed. But they don’t appear in a finished and systematized mode. The initial empirical „cloud“ (after Popper’s „clouds and clocks“ metaphor) undergoes different metamorphoses and modifications before turning into a systematically organized theoretical knowledge. Two methods of approach to such transformation – choice of standard (in the sense of sample) and using patterns – are considered in this paper.
