Summary/Abstract: On 1 May 2004 Poland became a member of the European Union. In the text, the authors examine three issues. The first issue relates to the conduct and results of the referendum on Polish accession to the European Union. The second issue is related to the conduct and results of the first European Parliament elections. The third issue concerns the use by the city of Polish presence in the European Union for its development.
