Syntactic and Semantic Properties of the Verb {kpić} (‘to mock’)

Summary/Abstract: The article depicts the semantic and syntactic properties of the verb {kpić}. In the first part the author, basing on the analysis of the material excerpted from the National Corpus of Polish, describes the verb {to mock} as a bivalential verb, with emphasis on different possibilities of formalizing the right-side position. The second part of the text focuses on the semantics of mockery, i.e. its presupposed and actually predicated elements. Finally, the author offers a semantic explication of the analysed verb.
