USERS OF ARCHIVES IN MODERN, INFORMATIONAL ENVIRONMENT – Practices of the Archive of Tuzla Canton

Summary/Abstract: The authors give an overview of how users work in the Archive of Tuzla Canton and the changes it goes through with the development of IT technology. Increasing electronic communication with clients, submitting requests through the Archives web site, online availability of material information and archival material itself are trends that, although still a small segment, are growing from year to year and will become one of the main ways of communication in due time. This will also influence submission of requests for archival material, either for personal and legal reasons or for different types of scientific, genealogical and other research. Also, through IT technology, mainly via the Internet, users can speed up and simplify the use of the material thanks to the use of electronic versions of the Guide through archival funds and collections and inventories that are available online. The Archive is constantly working to ensure the modern ways to preserve archival material and make it available to broader public.
