Summary/Abstract: Objective conditions for realisation of preventative measures to protect emerging public archival materials are currently unfavourable for archives due to lack of valid legal basis and storage space needed in the Archives. However, is that a professional archivist, being the subjective factor in the protection of archival materials, is a quarantee of protection of emerging archival fonds. The qualitu of the handover and later use of administrative files in the Archives depend upon their expertise, experience and enthusiasm. The state of the archival fonds newly taken over from creators in transition in the Šumadija Region bears witness to the quality of preventative protection of administrative files, complementarity of double entry recording, efficient implementation of archival standards in the practical work of registraries as well as the availability, extensive informativeness and modalities of optimal use of public arhchival materials.
