Summary/Abstract: In this article a distinctive ethico-cultural cartography is recovered from the philosophical fragments of Ancient Cynicism. The author of the article concentrates on the main characteristic of this cartography, that is, the contradictory opposition between maps of nature and civilization. The article concludes that such an opposition and incompatibility is a weak point of the above mentioned cartography: civilization does not annihilate possibility of natural temperance, whereas the human being, according to his/her nature, is a creator of culture and civilization. On the other hand, a certain positive aspect may be envisaged in contrasting maps of nature and civilization. It is the emphasis on virtue of temperance, which is actual, significant and relevant in any epoch, culture and civilization.
