Summary/Abstract: In his article, the author carried out an analysis of the main factors determining inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Poland. The obtained results confirm that Poland is in these terms a leader in Central and Eastern Europe. This is caused first of all, by favourable conditions of the traditional factors such as the stable political and legal situation, absorptive internal market, dynamic economic growth, large labour market potential, considerable degree of financial market development, stability of exchange rate and low wage labour costs. Despite that, in order to retain the position of leader in Central and Eastern Europe and attractive locality in global terms, there is the need to improve the situation in Poland as regards the determinants comprising the investment climate. This particularly concerns improvement of consistency of legal regulations, growth of effectiveness of the administrative procedures related to starting up business activity and reduction of the tax wedge.
