Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the meta-analysis as a method of scientific exploration aimed at early results, inference based on past scientific reports and a summary of the data received from research studies carried out in different research centres. The article made an analysis of primary research in the area of consumer behaviour in terms of methods and research approaches. The study collected empirical material is a base of scientific articles published in the Journal of Consumer Research in the period from 2000 to 2012. All in all, there were studied 749 articles. The analysis generated results on the types of research methods used to diagnose phenomena in the field of consumer behaviour, trends in their use, selection methods and sample sizes, and a range of research studies and their dimensionality. The paper can be a valuable source of information of consumer research for both researchers of that behaviour within social sciences and practitioners in the sphere of business.
