Summary/Abstract: The paper presents results of research concerning the level of service in entities retailing in countryside in comparison to their city competitors and constitutes a next study dealing with disparities in the level of retail services for citizens of Podkarpacie. Results of the analysis concern mainly clients’ preferences about the form of service (traditional and self-service) and assessment of professionalism of retail staff. There was verified an initial thesis about lower level of service in rural shops. It was also assumed that there are present some essential differences in a level of clients’ satisfaction connected with service in retail shops between citizens of cities and countryside distinguished also by some other socio-demographic features. The basis to conclusions presented in the paper is constituted by results of own research which was realised in 2012 and 2013 with participation of 331 retail clients living in Podkarpacie.
