Summary/Abstract: In their elaboration, the authors undertook an attempt to diagnose the structure of costs incurred by national enterprises related to their participation in fairs. In the introductory part, they outlined the state of fair market in Poland in the years 2008- 2012. Sequentially, based on the literature of the subject, they discussed fair-related costs (direct and indirect). The main part of the article is based on own surveys carried out among exhibitors in 2013 in fairs events organised in Krakow by the enterprise called Targi w Krakowie (Fair in Krakow). They ascertained that in the opinion of small enterprises fair-related costs are an important determinant while making a decision on participation in the event.
