Summary/Abstract: An aim of the work is to present the selected aspects of consumers’ choices concerning fish, seafood and its products against the background of overall description of the fish branch. There are used secondary as well as obtained by the method of Internet survey primary sources of information. The secondary data indicate the low level of consumption of fish and fish products in Poland, whereas the results of the authors’ own research indicated great popularity of consumption thereof. Consumers’ awareness as regards healthy values of fish, especially sea fish, I high, and the factors of choice are also the desire to diversify diet and the sensory features of that food. The authors have stated that there is a great potential of growth of demand for the fish sector’s products, though its use is conditioned by the transformations in the branch, particularly its consolidation and a further modernisation, extension and modernisation of the offer as well as improvement of the products physical and economic accessibility. There is also the need to make use of the marketing tools, including nutrition marketing and fulfilment of the educational programmes. Having in mind the scientifically proved healthy benefits of consumption of fish, seafood and their products, an increase of consumption thereof should affect improvement of the Polish population’s health indicators. The article is of the research nature.
