The second issue is the volume of expenses incurred on innovative activities in the service sector. The third issue is economic effects of innovative activities. The author demonstrated the ongoing drop in the share of revenues from sales of new and/or substantially improved products in the sales revenues as a whole. The analysis and evaluation of individual issues were carried out taking into account various classification criteria such as the size of the firm, the economic activity (branch) being carried out by it, and the type of innovations being introduced. The time scope of considerations covers the years 2009-2013. The conclusions coming out therefrom should be treated as a contribution to the discussion and further indepth research in this respect.
