Summary/Abstract: Research was conducted among 87 males employed in various types of schools in the areas of Opole and Silesia Provinces. Over 49% of the subjects acknowledged the following to be the most stressogenic situations: being surprised by changes and new regulations, lack of motivation on the part of students to learn and their disregard for school duties, the prestige of the teaching profession getting lower and lower, the social perception of the teacher’s work as ended straight with the end of the lesson, being overloaded with activities performed apart from regular duties and teaching hours. Most frequently stress manifests itself in continuing emotional irritability, excitement and in various physical changes in the organism. Teachers are aware of the efficacy of the most desired forms of prevention of stress.
