Summary/Abstract: In autumn 1914, a half million inhabitants of Galicia was in the war exile. Among them were 250,000 Poles, 220,000 Jews and 30,000 Ukrainians. In Vienna, 22 January 1915, there was established the All Ukrainian Cultural Council. Its founder was Aleksander Kołessa. The organization dealt with culture, education and the education of Ukrainians during the war. Most of all, this institution took care of the national culture of the Ukrainian people.
