Summary/Abstract: To describe the image of contemporary school, the authoress uses metaphors. Bearing in mind the diversity of opinions of pupils and parents she compares school to a toaster, a fire extinguisher and a nutcracker. Comparing school to a rusty, used car is strongly pejorative, whereas the funniest comparison used is the one that compares school to an institution which is a unification of the traits of a parrot. In consequence, we obtain an ambiguous image of the postmodern school.
