The deportation of Jews from Macedonia and Aegean Thrace and modern dimensions of the problem

Summary/Abstract: The study examines the fate of the Jewish population in Vardar Macedonia and Thrace during the Second World War in relation to Nazi pressure to create anti-Jewish legislation and accession of Bulgaria to the Axis. The Nazi occupation is studied of both areas in 1941 and pursued Nazi policies to local Jews, followed by the establishment of the Bulgarian administration.
