Summary/Abstract: The article contains a comparative index of the lexis of the Protevangelium Jacobi in two early Slavonic versions. The index represents the first four chapters of the Protevangelium Jacobi in its archaic Old Church Slavonic (Old Bulgarian) translation. For the purpose, two copies of the two early versions are used – the Zlatoust of Jagić in its latest edition by Mariana Dimitrova in 2011 and the Croatian Glagolitic version according to the copy in manuscript Mr161, published by Vesna Badurina-Stipčević in 2006. Also added are readings from the two earliest printed breviaries – the Breviary of Baromić (1493) and the Breviary of Brozić (1561) which follow the same translation and are closest to the text in Mr161. The comparative index reveals that they too demonstrate some lexical and grammatical innovations.
