Discriminant analysis in the identification of economic poverty of households

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses an example of applying a linear discriminant function to model the economic poverty of households, on the basis of a survey conducted on a random sample of households in Podkarpackie province. The statistically relevant discriminatory model allows for the identification of poor / not poor categories based on mostly qualitative, demographic and social variables characterizing the households.
