SELF-EFFICACY AND SUBSTANCE USE

Summary/Abstract: The present article makes an overview of Social Cognitive Theory and of the concept “self-efficacy” - how self-efficacy affects cognitive, emotional, motivational and selection processes. Here is examined the role of self-efficacy in the onset of substance and alcohol use and the influence of self-efficacy over remission’s maintanance and the rehabilitation programme's results.
