Involvement of the press in the construction of the Romanian Athenaeum

Summary/Abstract: The Romanian Athenaeum - the monument-emblem of the city of Bucharest, owes its existence to a public headdress launched under the slogan, become famous: "Give a" leu "for the Athenaeum!". This slogan also expressed the price of a participation ticket in the Lottery organized for this purpose and which allowed the Bucharest to contribute to the beginning of the construction.The press of the time, without taking into account political orientation, also gave its support by announcements and articles that have sensitized the public opinion. Many of the data that we have included in our article are based on the daily newspapers of the years 1885-1886: "România", "Românul", "Universul".
