Summary/Abstract: A crucial event in the history of Romania, the War of Independence mobilized the entire population of the country during the years 1877 - 1878. The inhabitants of the department of Buzău were among those who responded enthusiastically to the call of the fatherland. The inhabitants of this department have, on the one hand, noticed, by their submission without any objection to the law concerning requisitions, but above all by the offerings and donations made to support the war effort of Romania (money, food, Animals, etc.) and, on the other hand, by the spirit of sacrifice they displayed on the battlefields of Plevna or Vidin
