Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to restore the figure of Şerban Flondor (1900-1971), son of the politician Iancu Chevalier de Flondor (1865-1924), a large landowner in Bucovina, in the district of Storojineţ. He came from an old family of boyars, attested as early as the sixteenth century, under the name of "Albotă". Şerban Flondor, descended from the Romanian noble families Zotta and Hurmuzaki, was a passionate heraldry and genealogy, with a special interest in the nobility of Bukovina. Former student of the Theresianum Institute of Vienna, he embodied the atmosphere of the former Austrian Empire, while being Romanian. Following her participation in the International Congress of Heraldry and Genealogy of Vienna in 1970 and at her initiative, the Commission of Heraldry, Genealogy and Sphragistics was created the following year at the Institute of History "N.Iorga" of Bucharest, the first and only association of this type founded in Romania after the Second World Wa
