Summary/Abstract: The main issue of the following article is the analysis of appointment competence of the President in relation to judges. The introduction focuses on historical aspects of a given competence as well as the other appointment competences are listed. The key part of the analysis is the answer to the question whether the President can nominate a judge to a post without being bound by National Council of the Judiciary of Poland. Consequently, various arguments are presented, both for and against this standpoint, emphasising my own point of view on this issue. Eventually, the article closes with a table illustrating the figures of judge nominations and promotions in a given year.
