Summary/Abstract: In the anti-mercantilists considerations and criticism of the mercantilism principles the first tentative liberal postulates could be found. These postulates were created by very briefly ruling but influential economic doctrine called Physiocracy. The Physiocracy launched laissez-faire, and laissez-passer principles. These principles, traditionally attributed to Physiocrats, had appeared before Physiocratic school had been constituted. Pierre le Pesant de Boisguilbert, Thomas Le Gendre, Marquis d’Argenson and Vincent de Gournay – these names awere the most frequently mentioned as the authors of these maxims. The aim of the paper is the synthetic explanation of the maxims laissez-faire and laissez-passer origin. These maxims appeared in French economics which shaped the subsequent economic liberalism.
