Summary/Abstract: Archiving of audio visual records and changesof televisiontechnologies. There is no doubt that the TV archive of the future will be a digital and multimedia one. The problems of the migration of the contents from analog tv documents to a digital ones will provide TV archives with mixed analog/di- gital contents, and they will be museums of old tv equipment and tapes for at least 10 years. Postponed and selective migration is a risk which must not endanger important documents. Moreover, the process of ageing shows the real archive and use value of an AV document, while modern and superior tecnologies spare repeated and expensive migrations of archive documents.
