Summary/Abstract: Loneliness is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, defined on different plains. Loneliness can concern the man in every phase of his development, and depending on the period at which he will turn up, takes different forms. This article presents the definition and main concepts of loneliness as well as some aspects of the feeling of loneliness among young disabled people, their mental states that influence the process of shaping their identity and autonomy, as well as their relationships with the closest environment. The article mentions some foreign research on the feeling of loneliness among disabled people, it also presents some research on the feeling of loneliness occurring in specific interpersonal situations, which was selected from the Polish professional literature in the field of special pedagogy. Factor in the feeling of loneliness can be a child’s illness or disability, dysfunctional family, a family history of pathological phenomena, parents addiction cause an increase in feelings of loneliness in all areas of a child – mainly in the emotional and social.
