Summary/Abstract: Although the term “genre” is used in critical language in a cursory manner, the conceptual limits of this word is rather ambiguous in Turkish. This essay is a comparative study of the different definitions of “genre” in the works of contemporary philosophers like Jacques Derrida, Georg Lukács, Tzvetan Todorov, David Fishelov and Mikhail Bakhtin.
