Summary/Abstract: Persons of two age groups living or working in Krekenava Regional Park were questioned about the date of the Park establishment, its aims and protected values. We found out that a younger group (schoolchildren and those studying in the period of the Park establishment) was better informed about the time and aims of the RP but their knowledge is based on natural values. They also were better informed about the date of the Park establishment. The group of older respondents was better informed about its cultural and historical objects. They thought they knew why Krekenava RP was established; most of them emphasized just rare species of animals and plants, especially the European bison. The Bison Breeding Centre was the most known object in the Park territory along with some natural and cultural objects. We can conclude that more information on natural values is needed. This the area, at which school activities may be targeted.
