Summary/Abstract: The article elaborates the meanings of media and Internet. The definition of the word media is given in accordance with the encyclopedia found on the Internet. Internet is discussed in tree aspects - technical, informational and societal. Under technical features, packet switching, IP/TCP, hypertext and WWW are presented. Under the informational features of Internet changes in communication practice are pointed out. Communication one to one, one to many and many to many are selected. When social aspects of Internet are envisaged the magnitude, the horizontal organization, democratic characteristics and control of the net are thrashed out. In the close concepts of new media, aspects of innovative media and the relation between Internet and classic media are argued.
