Summary/Abstract: Modern pedagogical and didactic paradigms highlight the need for incorporating into the process of language education active and self-directed learning activities as those fostering learner autonomy. One of the possibilities of helping students develop their autonomy is the use of open-space teaching in the form of projects. However, as experience shows, neither schools nor teachers are prepared to incorporate this form of learning into regular teaching practice. Such a situation results from a variety of reasons. One of them is teachers’ lack of knowledge as to how to assess the outcomes of project tasks due to their dynamic and process-oriented character. As a result, students do not take these forms of learning seriously enough. The aim of the present paper is to reflect upon which ways of assessing projects as a form of open-space teaching might be the most efficient. Theoretical considerations are complemented with descriptions of projects and an example of an assessment sheet.
