Summary/Abstract: The aim of this work is to disclose the possibilities of the analysis of the concept Geld by the method of conceptual metaphors. At the beginning of the paper peculiarities of the usage of the lexeme Geld in economics and daily life are briefly discussed. In order to explain different understanding of the lexeme money the term concept from cognitive linguistics is introduced, neuro-physiological and lingua-cultural theories of the concept, its structure and means of expression are discussed and compared. In the paper the concept Geld refers to the scope of thinking, the logical core of which consists of purposefully (in the theory of economics in particular) constructed concepts of money and which includes pragmatic, cultural and axiological information fixed in the community's consciousness, cultural and axiological information about money and the related expressions. As the presented lexical illustration of the concept Geld shows, linguistics methods allow analysis of not absolutely all information related to a definite concept but only of that part, which is expressed through the language. Therefore the object of the report is collocations, i.e. traditional word combinations, the basis of which is the lexeme Geld or one the words from its synonym groups. While describing a linguistic expression of the concept Geld we relate linguistic metaphors with conceptual ones, i.e. refer to the method of conceptual metaphors constructed by J.Lakof and M. Johnson and adapted for the analysis of economic concepts by M.Hundt. In the practical part of the paper such main models of conceptual metaphors as MONEY IS A VITAL NECESSITY, MONEY IS MECHANICS, MONEY IS SPACE are set and compared to the adequate models in the language of economic theory, their similarities and differences are indicated, and illustrations in two languages (German and Lithuanian) are provided.
