Summary/Abstract: Reflections on the nature and logic of the indicator average grade, calculated as an arithmetic mean, are presented. Certain issues are concerned - on one hand with the process of measurement and formation of the grades, and on the other - with the factors for the use of the arithmetic mean from the viewpoint of statistical methodology, calling into question the logical substance of the average arithmetic grade, particularly when it is used for comparisons.
