Summary/Abstract: Пельмени is one of the most significant plays authored by Vladimir Sorokin. Deriving both from the postmodernist tendencies and the inventions of theatre of the absurd, this play encompasses a metaphysical reflection upon the condition of Russia. The journey through time and space (from the late 70s to the early 90s of the 20th century), orchestrated by Sorokin, leads to a bitter conclusion: history has come full circle, while future – even though exteriorly different — interiorly is identical to past.
