Summary/Abstract: The paper looks at the regional policy (also referred to as cohesion policy) of the European Union. The author discusses its origins, priorities and objectives, with particular attention given to the evolution of regional policy and its reforms introduced as a result of the EU enlargement. The author also discusses the objectives of new architecture of cohesion and structural funds.
