Summary/Abstract: The article exposes the thesis of the need to ensure ecological connectivity in order to maintain the biological diversity for sustainable use of its components. In practice, the protection of ecological connectivity is possible by using appropriately designed and applied instruments such as ecological corridors. According to Polish law, an ecological corridor is an area that enables migration of plants, animals and fungi. In compliance with eco-system approach, an ecological corridor is a legal instrument for the maintenance of biological diversity and the means for achieving sustainable development as a kind of the ,,constitutional guideline” of socio-economic and political state issues.
