Summary/Abstract: Internet as a global network, percieved by the Internet enthusiast as a tool that allows people to connect and overcome temporal and spacial distances – essentially it is not such a tool. In contact with the real, off-line life, and getting in conflict with terrestrial laws, the Internet loses its purpose as a medium without borders. Governments, providers and the users themselves have placed the Internet in the borders of national, local interests and needs, creating that way the bordered Internet. McLuhan’s Global Village is becoming a set of smaller villages, interconnected, but distanced from each other.
